Lift Decommissioning and Replacement

Is it time to replace your lift?

The life expectancy of any type of lift is dependent on a variety of factors. These include usage, product age or building type – amongst others. It may be time to replace your lift if you’re experiencing any of the following:

  • --> Increase in repair costs
  • --> Frequent breakdowns or call-outs
  • --> Abnormal noise coming from the motor room or lift shaft
  • --> Lift doors not opening or closing properly
  • --> Lift looking tired, damaged or worn out
  • --> Older, obsolete parts fitted
  • --> Recurring issues not solved by lift maintenance alone

Sometimes, building refurbishment or change in usage can result in a requirement for lifting equipment to be changed. Our commercial lift removal can be offered as a stand-alone process, or as a part of a replacement and new installation of any lift. We begin by visiting the site and discussing your options, then agree on how to progress, keeping you updated at each stage and ensuring building disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

Whatever your requirement, there’s a local team of highly experienced H&R Engineering engineers here to advise, support and guide you throughout the whole process.

Lift expertise you can trust

Our 20 years of engineering experience within the lift industry means you can rely on us to get the job done. During the initial site visit, we will examine and inspect your current lifting equipment, check dimensions and talk you through your options.

We will work with you to produce any construction phase plans, asbestos checks, method statements and risk assessments required – so you can be confident of what’s involved. We always ensure that any works comply with CDM 2015 regulations, European lift laws and Health and Safety regulations such as OHSAS 18001. As part of our lift services, we can also provide scaffolding and painting of lift shafts if needed.

We safely control (and where possible remove) any hazardous dust or substances. Once the lift removal is complete, we dispose of all items, recycling and disposing of every part in an environmentally friendly and considerate way.

Our highest priority is the safety of our passengers, our customers and our engineers. For all the work we undertake, we agree a schedule that both minimises risk whilst also minimising disruption. This dedication to both safety and service is why our clients put their trust in us to deliver major lift replacements and removals on every project.
